Web Development

Whether you want a single page 'web card', a large site with hundreds of pages, an e-commerce solution or a content management solution, VPPS provides a complete web design and development service.

If you already have a web site that is outdated, or not meeting your expectations, VPPS can review your site, evaluate your requirements and suggest changes that will enhance or redefine your web presence.

We can ensure that your site is accessible to users with special needs, that it is compatible with the major Internet browsers and that it is registered with the main search engines. We can register your domain name and will manage the arrangements for hosting and uploading your site to the Internet.

Before we do any of this we'll talk to you to make sure that a web site really does make good sense for your organisation.

Our approach is as follows:

  • Step 1: Getting to know you and understanding your requirements
  • Step 2: Formalising your requirements in a Brief
  • Step 3: Submitting a proposal on how best to meet your needs
  • Step 4: You choose a design from those suggested
  • Step 5: The site is built
  • Step 6: The site is tested
  • Step 7: The site goes live

Web Applications

Our web application solutions are provided within the structure of a Web Portal design. This allows for ease-of-use and the flexibility to quickly and easily customise the Web Portal solution to your needs.

Since we are implementing a 100% managed Portal design, all of the components are modular and can be moved or manipulated by the site Administrator (site owner), or even (with some restrictions) the non-administrative support professionals (department leads etc) who could then move modules around to suit their needs more effectively.

This offers the Web Portal user a more dynamic experience and allows a more personalised feel to the site without adding additional administrative or development overhead. Along with the obvious customer and administrative benefits, the Portal design also increases flexibility through implementing new and updated modules quickly and easily.

Major Features

  • Online administration of site layout, content and security
  • Roles-based security for viewing content, editing content, and administering the site
  • Mobile device support for WAP/WML and Pocket Browser devices
  • Basic portal modules are included for common types of content

Major Benefits

  • One resource for public Internet, staff Intranet and facilitator resources
  • Logical content management modules make the website simple to organise and update
  • Content can be set to expire on a chosen date
  • Cross-browser support for Netscape and Internet Explorer
  • Pages that are constructed from dynamically-loaded user controls
  • Role-based security to control user access to website content

Overview of Site Administration

The online administration tool permits users in the Admin role to manage the security, layout, and content of the portal.

Logged in users that belong to the Admin role will see an Admin tab that takes them to the administration pages. The site Administrator can give individual users the ability to view additional tabs and edit modules on specified tabs.

Roles Based Administration

The Log In facility for all users is located on the home page. Once logged in users can view any additional menu tabs available to them and add or edit content if authorised.

Content Management

Content Modules are modular pieces of page content that each present some functionality to the user, like a personnel contacts list, programs schedule, or newsletter articles.

Typically, several content modules are grouped on a tab to create a 'web page'.

Content Modules can be added, edited, deleted, restored, moved on a tab, or transfer to another tab.
